Government acquires Hotel Santo Domingo land to build convention center

Santo Domingo.-  President Luis Abinader announced the acquisition of the Hotel Santo Domingo land for the construction of the Santo Domingo Convention and Exhibition Center, a project expected to transform the city’s tourism model and generate economic, commercial, and employment opportunities nationwide.

In his keynote address, President Abinader expressed confidence in the success of both the construction project and the convention center, stating that the benefits will extend beyond Santo Domingo to impact the entire country. He also congratulated Tourism Minister David Collado and the Santo Domingo Hotel Association, highlighting the project’s significance for the nation.

Minister Collado noted that the convention center will mark a milestone in the Dominican Republic’s tourism industry, emphasizing the country’s strong global brand and the importance of collaboration in achieving historic tourism success. The project will be carried out with guidance from the Madrid Trade Fair Institution (IFEMA), organizers of major international fairs and congresses, including Fitur.
