FILSD 2025 suspended due to severe weather

Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Culture announced on Friday the suspension of all activities for the 2025 Santo Domingo International Book Fair (FILSD) due to severe weather conditions caused by a tropical wave. The decision follows a red alert issued by the Emergency Operations Center (COE) and aims to ensure the safety of visitors, exhibitors, writers, and staff at the Juan Pablo Duarte Cultural Plaza.

FILSD 2025, dedicated to historian Frank Moya Pons and featuring the Latin American Network of Literary Fairs and Festivals as guest of honor, will resume its schedule of over 600 activities once conditions improve. The fair opened yesterday with a ceremony led by Vice President Raquel Peña, Culture Minister Roberto Ángel Salcedo, and National District Mayor Carolina Mejía.
