Indomet issues alerts as tropical wave brings heavy rains
Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) announced that a tropical wave will leave significant moisture over the country this Friday, bringing widespread rainfall from early morning hours. Moderate to heavy showers are expected across Barahona, Azua, Peravia, San José de Ocoa, San Cristóbal, Santo Domingo, Monte Plata, Hato Mayor, and San Pedro de Macorís. By the afternoon, La Romana, Samaná, María Trinidad Sánchez, San Juan, and other provinces will experience heavy downpours accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds.
Authorities have maintained meteorological alerts due to the risk of urban flooding, river and stream overflows, and landslides. Provinces under yellow alert include Santo Domingo, the National District, María Trinidad Sánchez, La Romana, San Pedro de Macorís, Samaná, La Altagracia, Hato Mayor, El Seibo, Monte Plata, Azua, and San José de Ocoa.
Meanwhile, Barahona, San Juan, Peravia, San Cristóbal, Pedernales, and Sánchez Ramírez remain under green alert as officials urge residents in vulnerable areas to take precautionary measures.
