Dominican Republic strengthens trade ties with Korea through business forum in Seoul

Seoul, South Korea.- The Embassy of the Dominican Republic in Korea and ProDominicana hosted the “Dominican Republic–Korea Business Forum: Strategic Horizons” at the VOCO Hotel in Seoul, gathering more than 50 Korean business leaders, diplomats, and officials to explore new investment opportunities. The event marked a key step in strengthening bilateral economic relations and positioning the Dominican Republic as a strategic hub for Korean investment in Latin America and the Caribbean.

ProDominicana’s Executive Director, Biviana Riveiro, delivered the keynote address, highlighting the Dominican Republic’s robust economy, modern infrastructure, and strong legal framework. She emphasized that the country has become a regional leader in attracting foreign direct investment, offering stability, competitiveness, and access to global markets. “We want Korean companies not only to enter our market but to expand, innovate, and prosper alongside us,” Riveiro said.

Ambassador Angie Shakira Martínez Tejera described the forum as the beginning of a new phase in Dominican–Korean relations, centered on commerce, innovation, and investment. She reaffirmed that the Dominican Republic is “a reliable and competitive partner for Korea” and invited Korean companies to explore personalized support through the embassy.

The event concluded with a display of Dominican products—including coffee, cocoa, cigars, rum, and handicrafts—that captivated attendees and symbolized the cultural bond between both nations. Ambassador Martínez expressed gratitude to ESD Group for sponsoring the forum and to Korean trade institutions such as KOTRA, KOIMA, KITA, and KCCI for their collaboration. The forum set the stage for deeper economic cooperation and reaffirmed the Dominican Republic’s role as a gateway for Korean businesses in the Americas.
