Santo Domingo.- The Santo Domingo International Book Fair 2025 (FILSD 2025) concluded with historic success, achieving over RD$75 million in book sales—a 30% increase compared to the previous year. The event reaffirmed its status as the Caribbean’s most important literary gathering, attracting massive crowds and hosting a record 650 cultural and literary activities.
During the closing ceremony, Minister of Culture Roberto Ángel Salcedo announced that the next edition will take place from September 24 to October 4, 2026, underscoring the government’s commitment to supporting the publishing industry and fostering reading across the country. This year’s fair, dedicated to children’s literature, featured 19 participating countries, 165 guest authors, 370 publishing houses, and tens of thousands of students from over 620 schools. Through the Book Bonus program, more than 11,000 free books were distributed to students to promote reading access.
The fair offered diverse spaces including five exhibition pavilions, themed areas, and a business lounge that hosted 93 professional meetings with international publishers. Among the bestsellers were “Boss” by Eva Muñoz, with over 1,500 copies signed, and “La otra historia” by Frank Moya Pons, the year’s honored author. Minister Salcedo praised the fair’s success, highlighting its impact on the national literary scene and its growing international projection as a certified Dominican Republic Country Brand event since 2023.
