President Abinader inaugurates UASD-Cotuí Regional University Center
Cotuí, D.R.- President Luis Abinader inaugurated on Sunday the UASD-Cotuí Regional University Center, the first extension of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) in Sánchez Ramírez province, through the Ministry of Housing and Buildings (MIVED). The new center features 29 classrooms and is expected to benefit thousands of students from Cotuí and nearby communities. With this opening, the government completes four regional university centers established in less than five years, joining those in Baní, Azua, and Hato Mayor.
During the ceremony, President Abinader highlighted the significant progress and modernization of the UASD, underscoring its importance as a pillar of national education and intellectual development. He affirmed that these advances demonstrate his administration’s commitment to strengthening higher education and expanding access to quality academic opportunities across the country.
Abinader also announced several infrastructure initiatives for the province, including the upcoming construction of the Cotuí Ring Road, the completion of the Cevico–Monte Plata highway, the Hatillo road project (now 50% finished), and the building of four indoor sports facilities. Additionally, he unveiled plans for a new city aqueduct and a drinking water system at the Hatillo Dam to improve water access for local residents.
