Dominican diaspora praises consulate’s work in Bogotá
Colombia.- Dominicans living in Colombia have praised the diplomatic work of César Santiago Rutinel Domínguez (Tonty), the Dominican consul in Bogotá, highlighting his efforts to boost trade and cultural exchange between the two nations.
According to community members, Rutinel has played a key role in strengthening institutional relations, increasing the trade balance, and fostering greater economic opportunities for both countries. They noted that his initiatives have directly benefited thousands of Dominicans residing in the Colombian capital. Among them are entrepreneur Alexander Martínez, whose business has grown thanks to expanded commercial activity, and Javier Durán, a long-time collaborator in the shipping sector.
Vice-consul Dr. Carlos Amín Báez Rondón added that Colombia received over 400,000 Dominican visitors last year, making it one of the most popular destinations in the region. He attributed this growth to Colombia’s cultural richness and strong educational, tourism, and business opportunities. His remarks were made during a tour of Bogotá alongside journalist Oliver Peña.
