DEA delegation congratulates Abinader for strengthening anti-drug efforts

Santo Domingo.- The United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) formally congratulated President Luis Abinader for his administration’s strong support in the fight against drug trafficking in the Dominican Republic and the wider Caribbean. A high-level DEA delegation, led by Principal Deputy Administrator Daniel Salter and senior U.S. anti-drug officials, met with Abinader to acknowledge the country’s cooperation. The president expressed gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to working closely with the United States against international drug trafficking, narco-terrorism, and related crimes.

The delegation also included Michael A. Miranda of the DEA’s Caribbean Division and Kaleb T. Sanderson, DEA Attaché for the Dominican Republic and Haiti. From the Dominican side, Vice Admiral José M. Cabrera Ulloa, head of the National Directorate for Drug Control (DNCD), joined the meeting. Abinader reiterated that the Dominican Republic remains a key regional ally in counterdrug operations.

Following their visit to the National Palace, DEA officials held a working session at the DNCD headquarters with Cabrera Ulloa and senior Dominican anti-drug authorities. Both sides agreed to bolster cooperation through enhanced equipment, strengthened collaboration, and expanded real-time intelligence sharing to confront criminal organizations, including the Cartel of the Suns.
