President Abinader opens Christmas Village at Olympic Center
Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader, joined by First Lady Raquel Arbaje, inaugurated the eagerly awaited Christmas Village on Monday at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center, officially launching the Government’s holiday festivities. The event drew hundreds of families, filling the space with children’s laughter as the president invited them to shout “a loud cry of joy,” setting a festive tone for the celebration.
In his remarks, Abinader highlighted December as a season for unity, love, and renewed hope. He encouraged families to embrace the spirit of Christmas not only with close relatives but also with friends and those who share their daily lives. He emphasized that the Christmas Village is meant to be a place where parents, grandparents, and children can enjoy meaningful moments together.
The initiative is supported by multiple government institutions—including Banreservas, various ministries, and local municipalities—along with private partners who helped create a safe, illuminated, family-friendly environment. The Christmas Village offers themed attractions, artistic performances, games, shows, Christmas lights, and children’s characters, providing entertainment for visitors of all ages throughout the holiday season.
