Santo Domingo joins prestigious Assouline travel book series

New York.- The Dominican Republic celebrated a new milestone in its global projection on Tuesday, as Tourism Minister David Collado announced that the country—particularly its capital, Santo Domingo—is now part of the prestigious Assouline travel book collection, produced by one of the world’s most influential luxury publishing houses.

The launch took place in New York during an event led by Collado and Alexandre Assouline, president of the renowned firm, with the participation of specialized media and figures from tourism, culture, and the creative industries.

Assouline, founded in Paris in 1994, is internationally recognized for its high-end, handcrafted coffee-table books that spotlight iconic destinations, fashion houses, art, culture, and luxury lifestyle. Its publications are often regarded as collectible objects, displayed in top hotels, boutiques, and private libraries around the world. Being featured in an Assouline volume is considered a sign of cultural prestige and global relevance—placing Santo Domingo alongside some of the world’s most admired destinations.

During the event, Collado highlighted that the book “celebrates the essence, history, and elegance of the First City of the Americas,” underscoring Santo Domingo’s heritage and cultural value as a world-class tourist destination.

One of the most notable achievements is that the book sold out twice in all Assouline stores worldwide even before its official release—a sign, Collado emphasized, of the growing global interest in Dominican history, culture, and lifestyle.

The edition features editorial work by Rossana Rivera and the contributions of Patricia Read, Manuel García Arévalo, Manuel García, and Juan Mubarack, who collaborated on content development, visual curation, and storytelling.

With this publication, Santo Domingo secures a new platform for international promotion, aligning with the Ministry of Tourism’s strategy to elevate the Dominican Republic’s presence in high-profile markets and among the most exclusive luxury and travel publications worldwide.
