Puerto Plata.-The merengue festival will be held from July 18 to 20 in this province, announced cultural promoter Luciano Vásquez.

He said that the rhythm that beats in the hearts of Dominicans will have, starting this year, “a permanent place on the cultural agenda of the province of Puerto Plata.”

He said the merengue festival will be held annually in the second week of July, establishing itself as one of the flagship events on the north coast.

The 2025 edition of the festival will take place from July 18 to 20, with an attractive program of cultural and artistic activities, including pre-events on July 15 and 16.

The project has received strong support from government institutions and the private sector. The Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza, highlighted the event’s cultural and social impact, facilitating the necessary contacts for its realization.

Likewise, Puerto Plata Mayor Diomede Roque García, Provincial Governor Claritza Rochtte, Representative Emil Durán, IDAC Director Igor Rodríguez, and other government stakeholders have enthusiastically joined the initiative promoted by Luciano Vásquez, which also has the strong support of the business sector and the entire Puerto Plata community.

“Today we are making history. This is the first press conference in the Dominican Republic announcing a popular festival with the full support of the authorities, the business community, and the community,” said an excited Luciano Vásquez.

The CEO especially thanked the City Hall team, highlighting the dedication of their protocol assistant—who worked intensively despite her advanced pregnancy—as well as the valuable support of the staff at the Governor’s Office and the Department of Tourism.

He also acknowledged the collaboration of Atahualpa, the representative of the Ministry of Tourism in the province. He expressed his gratitude to businessman Junior Renta Sonido, one of the festival’s leading promoters.
