Acevedo Foundation transforms community school in Verón with back‑to‑school event

Verón, DR.- The Acevedo Foundation, led by its president Jenisbel Acevedo and the Acevedo family, hosted a high‑impact back‑to‑school initiative at Samarita Primero Elementary in Verón. Volunteers delivered school supplies, provided meals and organized recreational activities for children, while also unveiling a freshly painted and renovated learning space.

The day’s highlight was a reading of Acevedo’s own book, Un barco de sueños, which tells the story of a migrant girl embarking on a sea voyage in search of a better life. The tale resonated deeply with students, many of whom see their own families reflected in its pages.

In addition to primary education, the school offers technical programs in nursing and pharmacy for residents aged 16 and older, furthering the community’s professional and economic development.
