Acevedo Foundation transforms community school in Verón with back‑to‑school event
Verón, DR.- The Acevedo Foundation, led by its president Jenisbel Acevedo and the Acevedo family, hosted a high‑impact back‑to‑school initiative at Samarita Primero Elementary in Verón. Volunteers delivered school supplies, provided meals and organized recreational activities for children, while also unveiling a freshly painted and renovated learning space.
“We believe in the transformative power of education and in giving real tools to those striving for a better future,” said Jenisbel Acevedo, philanthropist and author. “Supporting children, youth and women on their path to improvement is at the heart of our mission.”
The day’s highlight was a reading of Acevedo’s own book, Un barco de sueños, which tells the story of a migrant girl embarking on a sea voyage in search of a better life. The tale resonated deeply with students, many of whom see their own families reflected in its pages.
In addition to primary education, the school offers technical programs in nursing and pharmacy for residents aged 16 and older, furthering the community’s professional and economic development. The Acevedo Foundation’s latest effort underscores its ongoing commitment to social solidarity and educational opportunity in the region.
