Successful celebration of the 23rd Edition of Vacaciones CTN Expo Feria 2024

Santo Domingo.- CTN celebrated with great success the twenty-third edition of Vacaciones CTN Expo Feria 2024, an event designed for Dominican families to plan their vacations both within the country and abroad.

Miguel A. Calzada León, president of CTN and Puro Turismo, delivered the opening speech, highlighting the satisfaction of celebrating this new edition of Vacaciones CTN: Expo Feria. This fair is aimed at Dominican families and the general public, providing an opportunity to plan their vacations and explore local offerings, thus promoting the wonderful tourist infrastructure of the Dominican Republic.

He also noted that the fair helps generate significant revenue for the country’s economy, not only through the sale of tour packages but also through the movement of thousands of people attending the event, benefiting hotels, restaurants, and local businesses.

This year, “Vacaciones CTN: Expo Feria 2024” was dedicated to the memory of Frank Hans Dannenberg Castellanos, in recognition of his vision and commitment to the Dominican Republic in the commercial, hotel, and aviation sectors, as well as his service as Ambassador to India, concurrent Ambassador to neighboring countries, Russia, and Canada. His work was marked by passion and dedication for the country.

The event also included, as in previous years, the presentation of significant awards to companies and individuals directly involved in the tourism sector. This year was no exception, with recognition given to those who have supported the country over the years.

Honorees at Vacaciones CTN Expo Feria 2024 included Asonahores for its crucial role in supporting tourism development through private-public sector collaboration. Dominican entrepreneurs Rafael and Jorge Feliz German were recognized for their leadership and global impact in the tourism industry via Karisma Hotels & Resorts. Spanish businessman Enrique Martinon García was honored for his ongoing efforts to elevate the Dominican Republic’s tourism presence internationally. Additionally, Lic. Minoru Matsunaga was commended for his dedicated work ensuring the safety of both foreign and local tourists, bolstering the country’s reputation as a top travel destination.

The fair once again featured active participation from the Tourism School of the Ibero-American University (Unibe), where Marketing and Tourism students gained practical experience in designing and organizing events of this nature, assisting with protocol and event presence.

The event was held at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Santo Domingo and completely free, allowing all Dominican families to attend and enjoy the best offers over the three days.

The fair also hosted a keynote conference on “Sargasso: A Great Challenge for the Dominican Republic – Solutions,” open to the public and featuring panelists Katja Afheldt, EU Ambassador to the Dominican Republic; Jimmy García Saviñón, President of the National Maritime Authority – ANAMAR; Ulises Jauregui, Sargasso University Network; Andrés Bisonó León, General Manager of SOS CARBÓN; and Frederick González Soriano, Sales Manager at ALGEANOVA.

The conference was supported by Asonahores, the Economic and Social Development Council of Santo Domingo – CODESSD, the Santo Domingo Hotel Association – AHSD, El Nuevo Diario, Unibe, CTN, and Puro Turismo.
