World Tourism Journalism Organization celebrates 13th anniversary with global event in Iguazú
A night of celebration and camaraderie as the OMPT marks its 13th anniversary.
Iguazú, Argentina.- The World Tourism Journalism Organization (OMPT) celebrated its 13th anniversary with a hybrid event held in Iguazú, Misiones, connecting journalists and tourism professionals from around the globe. The event was filled with emotion as the organization shared its achievements and announced its new leadership for 2025.
For the first time in OMPT’s history, the organization will be led by a tripartite directorate in 2025. Avelina Vizcaychipi of Argentina, Chuy Coronado of Mexico, and Kevin Casanova of Colombia will jointly assume the role of Director General. Additionally, Eric Barrantes will serve as co-director for Peru, strengthening the organization’s presence in South America.
The ceremony also recognized the 13 most influential tourism journalists of 2024, honoring professionals whose work has significantly impacted the international tourism journalism landscape. The complete list of honorees includes:

Founded by Miguel Ledhesma, the OMPT reaffirmed its commitment to promoting tourism journalism and fostering connections among journalists from different countries.
