Karisma president identifies three key challenges for Dominican Tourism

Santo Domingo.- Rafael Feliz Germán, Chairman of Karisma Hotels & Resorts, emphasized three critical challenges the Dominican Republic must address to boost tourism investment and growth: urban territorial planning, hotel workforce training, and increasing flight volumes to the country.

Feliz Germán acknowledged the factors that have contributed to the country’s success as a tourist destination, such as the quality of its people, security, infrastructure, and state support. However, he stressed the need for improved training of the hotel workforce, particularly in technical skills and languages, to enhance the customer experience.

He also called for a comprehensive urban and tourism land use planning strategy, using Mexico’s Riviera Maya as an example, and highlighted the importance of increasing flight connectivity by attracting more airlines and offering incentives to expand tourism arrivals.

I see 3 other things way more critical to the growth and tourism than listed here in this article. This is specifically for punta cana. first, the beaches and the sense of sanitation. theres garbage all over the place. The dominican people do not take care of their own land. second, infrastructure is lacking for both water and sewer. the drinking water is a problem there. even the bottled water is trash.. they keep all the bottles of water out in the sun, exposed to heat. not great for microplastic breakdown. and finally, the annoying ass vendors that harass you at every turn while you try to enjoy a walk down the beach or just to the corner store.

BTW, where are the police to manage traffic. especially by Jumbo. its a total shitshow in that area and police are never present. the Dominican Republic has plenty of room for improvement to say the least.

I was born in the Dominican Republic (in the capital), I love my people, but I have to agree, it’s a complete shitshow there, like literally. Traffic is insane, us Dominicans are experienced st our own traffic, that’s why we can literally drive anywhere on earth, but the tourists, they are gonna have a lot of fun here, lmao ????

Security, both physical and technological, is of primary concern for tourists experiencing the maximum mental and physical trust to any host country while vacationing. Ease of transport within the country, consistent culinary safety and quality, reliable energy provisions are just a few. Gracias y feliz Domingo!!
