Dominican Republic secures 50,000 additional airline seats from Canada
Montreal, Canada.- Tourism Minister David Collado announced agreements with Canadian airlines to provide 50,000 additional seats on routes connecting Canada with the Dominican Republic during the 2025 high season. Air Transat will introduce four new routes linking Canada to Punta Cana, Samaná, Puerto Plata, and La Romana, adding 15,500 seats. Sunwing Airlines will increase its frequencies, contributing nearly 30,000 seats.
Collado emphasized the importance of strengthening ties with Canadian airlines, noting Canada’s role as the second-largest source of tourists to the Dominican Republic. He highlighted the airlines’ trust in the Dominican market and their contributions to its tourism growth.
The Ministry of Tourism also conducted roadshows in Toronto and Montreal, engaging with over 300 tour operators and travel agents. These events included private meetings with airlines and other key players in Canada’s travel industry, further bolstering the Dominican Republic’s tourism prospects.
