Arajet to launch first flight to New York in April
Santo Domingo.- Victor Pacheco, president of Arajet, announced the airline’s inaugural flight to New York City on April 16, departing from Las Américas International Airport (AILA). This milestone marks Arajet’s entry into U.S. airspace, with plans for two daily flights on the Santo Domingo-New York route.
Later this year, Arajet aims to introduce eight weekly flights between Santo Domingo and San Juan, Puerto Rico, as part of a broader expansion. Additional routes, including Santo Domingo-Miami, Santo Domingo-Orlando, and Punta Cana-San Juan, are planned for the second quarter, pending certification from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Pacheco acknowledged logistical challenges, citing delays in aircraft deliveries. Arajet has received 10 of the 15 planes expected, with three more scheduled for 2025. Two of these aircraft will support new U.S. routes. Meanwhile, the airline prioritizes strengthening its Santo Domingo and Punta Cana operations before expanding to Santiago’s Cibao International Airport.
