Armed robbery at Cabo Rojo port: 7.5 million stolen

Pedernales.- Three hooded assailants stole 7.5 million in Dominican, Haitian, and U.S. currency from the Cabo Rojo port on Saturday. The incident, reportedly involving armed attackers overpowering security personnel, occurred shortly after a cruise ship’s departure. The stolen funds are believed to include payments for transportation and services related to the ship’s visit.
Authorities, including the National Police and the Department of Monetary Crimes, have launched an extensive investigation, questioning on-duty security staff and examining the crime scene. It was revealed that the robbers broke into two safes to access the money.
Criticism has arisen over the lack of adequate security at the port, as officials have yet to provide detailed information about the incident. The robbery has sparked widespread concern in the border area, with calls for improved protection measures at the facility.
