Frank E. Rainieri unveils progress on aircraft maintenance center at Punta Cana Airport
Punta Cana, DR.- Frank Elías Rainieri, CEO of Grupo Puntacana, showcased the progress of the first aircraft maintenance center in the region, a collaboration with FL Technics at Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ). The facility will serve as a hub for the maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) of various commercial aircraft.
Strategically located in the Punta Cana Free Trade Zone, the MRO area will span 115,588 m² of land and 27,000 m² of constructed space. The center will initially feature five maintenance bays for narrow-body aircraft, with plans for expansion to 12 bays. The project is expected to generate around 1,600 jobs, with more than 500 young engineers working on-site.
Upon completion of the first phase, the facility will include five hangars for on-site maintenance, along with a full support workshop. This project aligns with FL Technics’ global expansion, adding to its existing network of hangars in Europe and Asia-Pacific.
The RD because of its geographic location offers itself as a great logistics hub for aircraft maintenance. Educated mechanics, reasonable labor costs, and the location add to the flavor of the maintenance center.
Awesome for the DR lots of jobs.
