The poor treatment of Colombians upon their arrival in Mexico changed their tastes, as Punta Cana, Santo Domingo, and Curaçao now stand out, according to Kayak’s data analysis. Likewise, searches for the Dominican Republic continue to grow up to 111% increase, while Mexico has fallen 37%.

“Most Colombians have a clear top 3 favorite destinations in the Caribbean: Punta Cana, Santo Domingo, and Curacao. In 2025, the months of November (111%), September (58%), and October (35%) showed the largest increase in flight searches compared to the same months in 2024,” Kayak noted.

Searches refer to the period from 01/01/2025 to 31/01/2025 compared to the same period in 2024 for round-trip economy class flights from all airports in Colombia to the top 7 destinations in the Caribbean, with travel dates in 2025 and 2024. “Prices are average and may vary over time. Savings are not guaranteed.”

The average price of flights to the Dominican Republic in 2024 was $1,427,937, but it dropped to $1,416,353 in 2025.

On the other hand, in Mexico, in the same period of searches (01/01/2025 to 01/31/2025), in 2025, September (45%) had the highest increase in flight searches compared to September 2024. Meanwhile, August (-54%), February (-49%), March (-44%,) and January (-39%) were the months with the lowest number of searches for flights from Colombia to Mexico compared to the same months last year.

The average price of flights to Mexico was $1,627,820 in 2024, and in 2025, it increased slightly by 3%, reaching $1,628,376. December had the highest average flight price in 2025, while March had a lower price. Overall, flight searches were down 37% compared to 2024, according to REPORTUR.c.o.

It is recalled that in January, Paula Cortés, president of Anato, stated that “the departure of Colombians to Mexico, for tourism reasons, fell by 17% between January and November. In fact, Mexico’s participation in that period, among the countries most visited by Colombians, went from 17% to 13%.”
