Santo Domingo.- The National Institute for the Protection of Consumer Rights (Pro Consumidor) has announced operations in Boca Chica to address ongoing complaints about overpriced food and deceptive practices in local businesses. The initiative aims to protect visitors from unfair pricing and ensure transparency in commercial transactions.
Authorities will closely monitor businesses, enforcing corrective measures to uphold consumer rights. This response follows repeated reports from both local and international tourists about inflated prices and discrepancies between advertised and actual charges.
Pro Consumidor has urged merchants to adhere to pricing regulations and warned that violators will face legal sanctions. These efforts seek to enhance the tourist experience and promote fair competition in Boca Chica’s food sector.
Pro Consumidor is paving the way for a government takeover of the beach food stands. It will displace present vendors and syndicate. Build with new facilities, maybe invite former vendors back at higher rents, and impose an approved syndicate. The result will be pretty facilities and higher food costs.
