Santo Domingo.- Renowned journalist and television producer Yenny Polanco Lovera has officially announced her candidacy for the presidency of the Ibero-American Federation of Tourism Journalists (FIPETUR) for the 2025-2027 term. Running under the banner “Union and Development,” her campaign is backed by a team of prominent tourism journalists, including Evandro Novak from Brazil as first vice president and Fernando Milo from Argentina as second vice president.

Polanco Lovera, the current president of the Dominican Tourism Press Association (Adompretur), outlined her platform, which centers on innovating and strengthening tourism journalism. Her proposal includes forging international training agreements for FIPETUR members; implementing virtual training programs to enhance the creation and positioning of content; expanding the federation by integrating new countries and associations; and reinforcing the FIPETUR website to improve the reach and impact of its publications.

“I believe my proposal reflects the tangible work I have carried out in the institutions I have led. I trust in the support of FIPETUR members for the coming two years,” Polanco Lovera stated.

Her candidacy has received endorsements from notable figures such as Roque Badeaun, former FIPETUR president and ex-national tourism director of Uruguay; Luis José Chávez, strategic communication advisor; and María Shaw, the current FIPETUR president. The board of Adompretur has also expressed its full support.

The electoral assembly is scheduled for May 2025 during the International Tourism Fair DATE 2025 in Punta Cana. Delegations from Spain, Peru, Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Bolivia, Ecuador, and Portugal are expected to participate. During the event, a recognition ceremony will be held to honor Tourism Minister David Collado for his efforts in promoting regional tourism.

With over two decades of experience in tourism journalism and trade unionism, Polanco Lovera has played a key role as FIPETUR’s Vice President for International Relations, driving initiatives that bolster communication within the sector. An alumna of the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo, UNAPEC, and the Complutense University of Seville, she has established her career through her acclaimed television program and web portal “Fiestas y Personalidades,” which has become a benchmark in covering cultural and tourism events in the Dominican Republic.

Polanco Lovera’s candidacy aims to usher in a new era of growth and integration for FIPETUR, with an innovative approach designed to address the challenges of tourism journalism in the digital age.
