Iberojet to launch direct Madrid–La Romana route

Santo Domingo.- Spanish airline Iberojet has announced the launch of a new direct flight between Madrid and La Romana International Airport, beginning June 22, 2025. This marks the airline’s first direct connection between the two cities and represents a strategic move to strengthen European tourism in the eastern Dominican Republic.

The route will operate once a week on Sundays through September, using modern Airbus A350 aircraft. According to company sources, the initiative builds on the success of Iberojet’s Lisbon–La Romana route launched last year and further expands its Caribbean footprint, which includes existing routes to Punta Cana and the Riviera Maya.

This new air link positions La Romana International Airport as a growing hub for Caribbean tourism, offering greater accessibility for European travelers. La Romana, known for its luxury resorts, also serves as a convenient entry point for visitors heading to Santo Domingo and Punta Cana, helping diversify the country’s international tourism market.
