Frontier Airlines launches direct flights between Puerto Plata and San Juan

San Juan, (EFE).- Frontier Airlines inaugurated a new route this Thursday connecting Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, and San Juan, Puerto Rico, enhancing air connectivity between the neighboring Caribbean islands. The route will operate with two weekly direct flights between Gregorio Luperón International Airport (POP) and Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU).

According to Willianette Robles, executive director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, this new service represents a significant boost for tourism and the local economy, adding 4,464 airline seats and generating positive economic impact for the region.

Josh Flyr, Frontier’s vice president of Route Design and Operations, highlighted the airline’s commitment to offering affordable travel options while supporting the economic development of the Caribbean. Jorge Hernández, president of Aerostar Puerto Rico, welcomed the new connection as a valuable step toward strengthening tourism and trade ties between Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.

Flown on Frontier and spirit once or twice years ago but never again. Bad experience
