Los Angeles, Arajet’s next destination in the US

Victor Pacheco, CEO of Arajet, announced the launch of a new route to Los Angeles, marking a new step in its expansion into the US market.
He explained that, “the airline is implementing an accelerated growth strategy in the United States, where it already operates regular flights from Santo Domingo to Miami, San Juan, Puerto Rico, as well as Newark, one of the terminals serving the New York metropolitan area . In addition, it plans to soon launch connections to Orlando (October 26), Chicago (November 15) and Boston (November 20).”
With an eye on attracting both outbound tourism and the Dominican diaspora, Arajet has also requested to fly to a total of 17 cities in the United States, including Washington Dulles and Baltimore. However, those routes do not yet have a confirmed date.
The addition of Los Angeles will represent a key strategic advancement, as it is one of the main gateways from the West Coast of the United States to Latin America and the Caribbean, and also boasts a significant Latino and Dominican population, according to Aviacionline.
Arajet currently operates a fleet of Boeing 737 MAX 8s and bases its model on a low-cost offering with continental reach, taking advantage of bilateral agreements such as the Open Skies Treaty between the Dominican Republic and the United States, which facilitates the launch of new cross-border routes.
I am glad to see the open skies treaty being utilized. However, how about making an international airport for us in the South? In Barahona would be great. Even better, San Juan DLM or Azua? takes 4 hours to get from Elias Piña to SDQ. 3 from Barahona. If you want to open up stuff out in the desert near Bahia de las Àguilas, you should consider that!
