Puntacana Group: Construction of a hotel in Baní will begin in the coming months

Punta Cana.- Simón Suárez, vice president of Interinstitutional Relations for the Puntacana Group, stated that the plans announced by the business group for its Puntarena project in Baní are already feasible, but that they are working on relaunching the destination to achieve specific objectives.

He told arecoa.com that the aforementioned stimulus needed by the area is being carried out in a very aggressive manner, “now that we have the bypass in sight.” The next step is the development of the hotel, which is planned to begin in the coming months, in addition to the development of some residential areas in the hills and mountains.

To realize the Puntarena schedule, the executive said, “What we need to do is continue doing what the tourism sector is doing well. We need to take the area’s promotion to the next level, making it known that Baní has potential for tourism, and ensuring that the area’s complementary offerings, such as the Mango Expo, don’t just serve to attract visitors from Santo Domingo to buy the fruit in Paya. We need to do much more than that.”

Suaréz explained that this requires, as road infrastructure improves and as the focus of Baníjo entrepreneurs expands, “it’s a training process,” he said.

He noted that the significant growth in visitor arrivals in the Dominican Republic is due to the diversification and offering of destinations, and that an important step has been the construction of hotels in the provinces, offering more than just sun and sand. He also acknowledged that the progress made on the construction of the Baní bypass, a key project that will contribute to the economic, social, and tourism development of the southern region, is crucial for continuing the country’s tourism growth plans.
