Bahia Principe renews Travelife certification

Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts has renewed its prestigious Travelife certifications for hotels in Spain, the Dominican Republic, and Jamaica, reaffirming its commitment to sustainability and responsible tourism. The renewal follows rigorous biannual audits that assess performance in areas such as environmental protection, social responsibility, and corporate governance.

The Travelife seal requires continuous improvements in energy and water efficiency, waste reduction—including cutting single-use plastics—and ethical labor practices. Currently, 18 Bahia Principe hotels hold this certification, reflecting their adherence to international sustainability standards.

The hotel chain also promotes local economic and social development by sourcing from local suppliers and implementing initiatives that reduce environmental impact. Key actions include a circularity strategy that eliminates single-use items like disposable cutlery, plastic cups, and laundry bags to reduce waste.
