Culture minister and José Mármol discuss the power of words at Casa del Cordón
Santo Domingo.- The Centro Cultural Taíno Casa del Cordón will host a timely conversation titled “The Power of Good Words” on Wednesday, August 6, at 7:00 p.m. The event, presented by Banco Popular Dominicano, brings together Culture Minister Roberto Ángel Salcedo and José Mármol, executive vice president of Corporate Communications, Reputation and Responsible Banking at Grupo Popular, to explore how language shapes social harmony and personal development.
During the hour-long dialogue, Salcedo and Mármol will examine the ways in which everyday speech influences human relationships, community bonds and shared values. They will also address the risks posed by divisive or demeaning expressions and propose strategies for fostering respectful, constructive communication in homes, schools and workplaces.
Minister Salcedo, who holds a degree in Business Administration and a master’s in Public Policy Management, has combined public service with a career in film and audiovisual production. Mármol, a poet, essayist and philosopher with a PhD from the University of the Basque Country, serves in the Dominican Academy of Language and has earned the National Literature Prize among other honors.
Moderated by cultural adviser José Enrique Delmonte, the event underscores Casa del Cordón’s mission to blend cultural promotion with educational outreach. Located in the heart of the Colonial Zone, the center continues to enrich public life through discussions, exhibitions and programs that connect Dominican heritage to contemporary challenges.
