Abinader inaugurates the Baní bypass: “It will bring the southern beaches closer”
Baní, DR.- President Luis Abinader inaugurated the Baní bypass, a project that will reduce travel time for drivers and travelers in the southern region of the country, with a reduction of 40 minutes and up to an hour.
This bypass aims to divert vehicular traffic away from the urban area, facilitating the transport of people and goods without affecting traffic and the environment within the town.
Abinader stated that this bypass, awaited for more than 40 years, is not simply another public project but rather part of a development plan for this area.
According to President Abinader, the painting project will be ready for formal delivery in October.
“We will continue creating the conditions for progress… our role is to bring the projects to where they are needed,” the president emphasized, expressing his hope that the region will become a fertile south, where he hopes poverty will decline.
Eduardo Estrella, Minister of Public Works and Communications ( MOPyC ), reported that this project consists of 19.1 kilometers, 17 bridges, and two entrance and exit interchanges, with a capacity of approximately 15,400 vehicles per day. This road has required an investment of 7.7 billion pesos and was executed by two contractors.
“It’s a road that not only helps traffic in the province of Baní , but will also bring the southern beaches closer,” the official said, reiterating that the highway connects Santo Domingo more directly to the entire south of the country.
These bridges have been built to four lanes for future widening, and trees will be planted to prevent people from using the right-of-way for construction.
