Dominican Republic shines at IBTM Americas in Mexico City

Mexico City.- Tourism Minister David Collado led the Dominican Republic’s participation in the 16th IBTM Americas Fair, the leading MICE tourism event in the region, held in Mexico City. Joined by Dominican ambassador Juan Bolívar Díaz, Collado emphasized the country’s strategy to strengthen its presence in the Latin American market and showcase its competitive tourism offerings.

During the fair, the Dominican delegation met with more than 1,600 industry partners from Mexico and Latin America, presenting new strategies and the promotional campaign “Dominicana te sonríe.” Mexico has become a key market, with 84,395 Mexican visitors recorded from January to July 2025, a 26% increase compared to the same period in 2024, when the country received a record 117,400 tourists.

The Dominican mission included 29 companies representing airlines, hotels, tour operators, and destination management companies. With its presence, the country reinforced its commitment to diversifying tourism, promoting the future Santo Domingo Convention Center, and attracting new hotel investments, positioning itself as a regional leader in the meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) industry.
