Independent hotels drive growth through Hyatt network

The Dominican Republic is reinforcing its position as a top Caribbean tourist destination, welcoming over 6 million visitors in the first half of 2025 and projecting more than 8 million by the end of August. The surge benefits both large hotel chains and independent properties, supported by high-quality infrastructure, diverse tourism offerings, cultural richness, and attractive beaches, as well as growing interest in nature, adventure, wellness, and cultural tourism.

Independent hotels are increasingly joining international networks like the Hyatt Inclusive Collection to strengthen competitiveness, achieve global quality standards, and expand their market reach. Fernando Fernández, Hyatt’s Vice President of Development, noted that the model also fosters job creation, encourages local sourcing, and promotes cultural experiences, ensuring visitors can engage authentically with the Dominican Republic’s heritage.

Notable recent projects include Secrets Playa Esmeralda Resort & Spa, Dreams Playa Esmeralda in Miches, and the adults-only Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana.
