Trump tends to discourage travel from the US to the Caribbean.

U.S. President Donald Trump is implementing a series of measures aimed at discouraging travel by his fellow citizens to the Caribbean, making it more attractive and beneficial for them to concentrate their spending in their own country, as detailed by REPORTUR.us.

Recent weeks have underscored this view, with several travel alerts deemed exaggerated by tourism professionals, including the use of words like “terrorism” for destinations in Mexico, or combined with more or less explicit bans on Cuba, in addition to even mentions about the Dominican Republic that are somewhat distorted by reality.

The weakness of the dollar also encourages Americans to consider it more economical to stay in their country during a vacation, while making it cheaper for foreigners to travel within the borders of the world’s leading power ( QRoo suffers a “Terrorism” warning from the USA for the first time ).

In fact, Trump himself argued that among the main benefits of a weak dollar was tourism, as it both discourages locals from traveling abroad and encourages foreigners to visit his country, in a protectionist vein that is shaping his economic approach.

I happen to love the Dominican Republic. It will take more than a little discouragement to keep me away.

LOL, thats one way to be in denial. Eplain highest amount of tourists this year in the month of July 800,000 plus. Lowest hotel occupancy rate this year in month of July. 18% of GDP for DR is from Tourism industry. Dangerous. Guess who #1 DR tourists come from USA. 2nd is Canada. 2.2m visitors by air 40% of all tourist. So go ahead, lose 10-20%of tourists and replace them with Argentina, Columbia, Venezuelan visitors combined won’t equal the lose of tourists and tourism dollars. Funny part is DR is mirroring USA policies unfortunately. Maybe infrastructure such as electricity, sewers, clean water, higher paying jobs, laws to protect investors from not being ripped off might help. Believing trump is friend when he’s already ripped off people in cap cana 10yrs ago is laughable. Lastly, racism like america doesn’t help either.
