Santiago presents Tourist Train to U.S. operators

Santiago.- This weekend, the city of Santiago unveiled its new Tourist Train to a delegation of U.S. tour operators, in an initiative organized by the Santiago Tourist Destination Cluster and City Tour Santiago, with the support of Mayor Ulises Rodríguez and his wife, Iris Cepín. The group was also accompanied by Wendy Justo, director of the Tourism Promotion Office in Miami, and Karyna Ramos, representative in New York.

The Tourist Train, operated by Roco Solutions SRL and marketed by City Tour Santiago, is designed to connect visitors with the city’s main cultural and historical attractions. Mayor Rodríguez described the trip as a test route, highlighting it as a new tourism product for Santiago. Cluster president Ramón Paulino noted that the visit, coordinated by tour operator Manureva, allowed agents to experience Santiago’s cultural richness firsthand, stressing that the city is positioning itself as one of the Dominican Republic’s most attractive destinations for international markets.

The invited operators, representing cities such as Atlanta, Charlotte, Miami, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania, began their tour at the San Luis Fortress. They then explored the historic center aboard the train and concluded with a cultural evening at El Son de Keka, where they enjoyed live music and traditional expressions of Santiago’s identity.
