La Romana becomes top choice for Argentine travelers
La Romana.- La Romana has experienced notable growth in Argentine tourism, with arrivals rising from 15% in 2024 to 20% so far in 2025, according to the La Romana Bayahibe Hotel Association. This increase has positioned Argentina as one of the region’s leading international markets, in some cases even surpassing the United States in hotel occupancy.
Association president Andrés Fernández credited the rise to La Romana’s well-rounded tourism offer, highlighting pristine beaches, diverse activities, and authentic cultural experiences. Executive director Ana García-Sotoca noted that factors such as the absence of sargassum, proximity to Saona Island, the charm of Bayahibe and Dominicus, improved air connectivity, and the region’s world-class golf facilities have been decisive in attracting Argentine travelers. She emphasized that while La Romana’s hotels may not compete on the lowest prices, they deliver excellent value, personalized service, and a family-friendly atmosphere—qualities that resonate strongly with this market.
