ADOTURD and Oceanman partner to boost Dominican Republic’s sports tourism

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Sports Tourism Association (ADOTURD) and Oceanman Dominicana have signed a collaboration agreement to strengthen the Dominican Republic’s role as a regional leader in sports tourism. The alliance will provide logistical support, technical assistance, and impact assessments to ensure the success of the 2025 Oceanman competition, one of the world’s most prestigious open-water swimming events.

The competition is scheduled for October 10–12, 2025, in Bayahibe, La Romana, and is expected to draw more than 1,000 foreign swimmers along with their families and supporters. This influx of international visitors will generate a notable boost to the local economy, particularly in hotels, transportation, gastronomy, and tourism services.

The agreement was formalized by Rafael Miranda of Oceanman Dominicana, ADOTURD president Yerik Pérez, and board member Miguel Estepan. During the ceremony, the parties highlighted that initiatives like this strengthen the vision of positioning sports as a strategic pillar of Dominican tourism, creating sustainable experiences that enhance the country’s global presence while driving both social and economic impact.
