Banreservas reaffirms commitment to Puerto Plata tourism

Puerto Plata.- Banreservas CEO Leonardo Aguilera joined President Luis Abinader on Sunday during a tour of inaugurations in Puerto Plata, reaffirming the bank’s commitment to supporting tourism development across the country, with a special focus on the northern province. Aguilera highlighted Banreservas’ involvement in hotel infrastructure projects and initiatives throughout the tourism sector’s value chain.

During the tour, President Abinader inaugurated the Dominican Association of Tourism Press (Adompretur) building, which will also house the Merengue Museum. In addition, improvements to sidewalks and curbs in the historic center were completed, including Paseo de Doña Blanca, Duarte Street (known as “Calle de las Banderas”), Beller Street, and Padre Castellanos Street. These works aim to enhance pedestrian mobility and safety while strengthening Puerto Plata’s tourism infrastructure.

Banreservas continues to support tourism through direct financing and backing of projects related to hotels, cruise ports, theme parks, and other facilities. In recent years, Puerto Plata has experienced significant growth in visitor arrivals, reinforcing its position as a key tourist destination in the Dominican Republic.
