Dominican Republic sets record with over 8 million visitors from January to August 2025

Santo Domingo.- Tourism Minister David Collado announced that the Dominican Republic welcomed a record 8,005,257 visitors between January and August 2025, a 49% increase compared to the same period in 2019. Of this total, 6,085,053 arrived by air and 1,920,204 by cruise ships, marking a 4.7% rise over August 2024.

Collado noted that in August alone, 707,175 visitors entered by air, consolidating the country’s position as a leading Caribbean destination. He also emphasized the recovery of flight arrivals, with the country surpassing 6,000 flights in August, compared to just over 5,000 the previous year.

Regarding the economic impact, the minister highlighted that tourism generated US$10.5 billion in revenue in 2024, with projections surpassing US$11 billion in 2025. He stressed that these results strengthen the Dominican economy and contribute significantly to job creation.
