Samaná BayPort officially certified for cruise operations

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Port Authority (APORDOM) and the Specialized Corps of Port Security (CESEP) officially certified the Samaná Bayport tourist and cruise terminal under the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code. The certification, valid for five years, confirms that the terminal in Santa Bárbara de Samaná meets both national and international safety standards for port operations.

During the ceremony, APORDOM director Jean Luis Rodríguez highlighted the importance of this achievement, stating that the new certification opens the door for cruise ships to begin arriving in the coming months, reinforcing the country’s position in the regional tourism market. Rear Admiral Henry Antonio Guzmán Taveras, CESEP’s general director, emphasized that the facility meets all security standards and represents a new operational challenge by combining anchorage and direct passenger reception.

Samaná BayPort will receive cruise passengers anchored near Cayo Levantado Island, who will be transported by auxiliary vessels to the terminal, boosting tourism across the province and surrounding destinations.
