UN-Tourism honors David Collado as Minister of the Americas
Santo Domingo.- The World Tourism Organization (UN-Tourism) honored David Collado, Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, as “Minister of the Americas”, recognizing his visionary and transformative leadership in promoting tourism as a driver of economic growth, social inclusion, and sustainability across Latin America and the Caribbean.
The recognition highlights Collado’s innovative management, his emphasis on public-private partnerships, and his role in strengthening the Dominican Republic’s position as a regional tourism leader. The award was presented by Natalia Bayona, Executive Secretary of UN-Tourism, during the International Conference on Tourism Cooperation.
At the event, the Dominican Republic and Paraguay signed a letter of intent to designate the country as Guest of Honor at FITPAR 2026, fostering cooperation, investment, and cultural exchange between both nations. As president of UN-Tourism’s Regional Commission for the Americas, the Dominican Republic also hosted a high-level discussion on sustainable tourism policy, reaffirming its regional leadership and commitment to responsible tourism development.
