Punta Cana Airport expects an “extraordinary” winter due to high flight demand.

Tourism entrepreneur Frank Rainieri expressed his joy at the steady growth experienced by the Dominican Republic‘s tourism sector, which has seen an increase in flight arrivals during the winter season.

In this regard, the tourism promoter in Punta Cana said that Punta Cana Airport will end 2025 with a record number of flight arrivals, and that, as a result of the increase, they are building five more emergency positions to have it ready by the end of the year.

“At Punta Cana Airport, we ‘re experiencing an extraordinary winter in terms of the number of arriving flights, and that’s very important. God willing, we’ll have record flights, and that’s why we’re building five more emergency positions to have them ready by the end of the year, because otherwise… we wouldn’t have a comfortable airport,” he explained.

Rainieri stated, during his participation in the International Conference on Tourism Cooperation, held by UN Tourism, that as a country, tourism cannot aspire to 10% growth “because the numbers are too high.”

He also indicated that with the growth in Dominican tourism, higher-quality hotels are being built, which will result in increased revenue for the country.

“We can no longer aspire to 10% growth because the numbers are too high, but the important thing is that we continue to grow, and in addition, higher-quality hotels are being built, which means the country will have more income. That’s the important thing: maintaining the flow of dollars so the economy continues to grow and continue welcoming more tourists,” he emphasized.
