7th International Health and Wellness Tourism Congress positions Dominican Republic as regional leader and #19 worldwide

Santo Domingo.- The 7th International Congress on Health and Wellness Tourism concluded successfully, reaffirming the Dominican Republic’s leadership in medical tourism across Central America and the Caribbean and ranking it among the top 20 most trusted destinations worldwide, according to the Medical Tourism Index.
Organized by the Dominican Association of Health Tourism (ADTS) and AF Comunicación Estratégica, the event gathered over 35 international experts and received support from more than 60 organizations. Public Health Minister Dr. Víctor Atallah opened the congress, which featured keynote speeches and panels on health innovation, international accreditation, hospital design, retirement tourism, artificial intelligence, and personalized wellness.
ADTS president Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso and Amelia Reyes Mora highlighted how strategic collaboration, communication, and continuous education have strengthened the Dominican Republic’s reputation as a reliable and competitive destination. The congress emphasized regional cooperation, sustainability, and technological innovation as key to advancing the sector, reaffirming the country’s commitment to an ethical and sustainable model that boosts its global standing in health and wellness tourism.
