Dominican Republic boosts MICE tourism through Industry Educational Day
Punta Cana.- The Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Tourism (MITUR), in collaboration with SITE Global (Society for Incentive Travel Excellence), hosted the Industry Educational Day at the W Punta Cana Hotel, an event focused on innovation, learning, and networking within the global MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) sector.
The gathering brought together top international and local professionals from the incentive travel industry, including members of SITE’s Global Board of Directors and executives such as Annette Gregg, CEO of SITE, and Nitin Sachdeva, Executive Chairman of the meeting. The program addressed key topics shaping the industry — including technology and AI, sustainability, and insights from the Incentive Travel Index 2025 — while a panel of international buyers discussed strategies to strengthen the Dominican Republic’s position as a leading MICE destination.
Participants included major global tourism leaders such as Kim Napolitano (Hilton), Benoit Sauvage (Connect DMC), and Karim El Minabawy (Emeco Travel), alongside Dominican hotel representatives, DMCs, and specialized suppliers. The event fostered collaboration, knowledge exchange, and strategic alliances, reinforcing the country’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and sustainable development in the incentive travel sector.
This edition, held in Punta Cana, reaffirmed the Dominican Republic’s leadership in the Caribbean and its growing reputation as a regional benchmark in the MICE industry.
