Adompretur represents Dominican Republic at international tourism journalism congress in Brazil
Caxias do Sul, Brazil.- The Dominican Association of Tourism Press (Adompretur) represented the Dominican Republic at the 15th International Congress of Journalists and Tourism Professionals, held in Caxias do Sul, Brazil. The event, organized by the World Organization of Tourism Journalism (OMPT), highlighted the role of tourism communication under the theme “Tourism that moves, history that inspires.”
The Dominican delegation—composed of national and regional Adompretur leaders—emphasized that tourism journalism is not only about promotion, but about telling meaningful stories that honor culture, communities, and sustainability. During the congress, the OMPT presented institutional recognitions, including the induction of Colombian journalist Kevin Casanova and Mexican journalist Jesús “Chuy” Coronado into the World Hall of Fame of Tourism Leaders and Tourism Journalists. Adompretur’s secretary general, Carmen Bretón, also received a special award for her contributions to responsible tourism communication.
The meeting strengthened international cooperation, expanded partnerships, and positioned Caxias do Sul within the UN Tourism Global Network of Emerging Destinations. For Adompretur, participation reinforces its role as a regional leader in tourism journalism and enhances the Dominican Republic’s visibility in global forums.
