Puerto Plata gains momentum among Argentine travelers
Buenos Aires.- Viviana Cuomo, regional sales manager for South America at Viva Resorts by Wyndham, reported strong results for the chain’s hotels in the Dominican Republic and a significant rise in demand from Argentina—boosted notably by new Copa Airlines flights. Speaking at the Tourism Marketing Meeting (ECTU) in Buenos Aires, she emphasized the growing appeal of Viva Tangerine and Viva Heavens in Puerto Plata, which have become standout options for the upcoming season thanks to increased air connectivity from Córdoba, Rosario, and Mendoza.
Cuomo highlighted Puerto Plata’s competitive advantages for Argentine travelers: affordable prices, sargassum-free beaches, and a variety of cultural and recreational activities. Popular offerings include the Tobacco and Rum Circuit, the Cocoa Tour, cays excursions, dolphin parks, and the area’s rich historical attractions. She noted that travelers are seeking good beaches, better prices, and new experiences—needs Puerto Plata meets while offering lower package rates than Punta Cana and Miches.
