Luis Miguel De Camps promotes the Dominican Republic as a hub for investment

Washington, D.C.- Dominican Labor Minister Luis Miguel De Camps emphasized the government’s recent reforms aimed at enhancing customs administration and improving the investment climate. Speaking at Georgetown University during the discussion titled “The Impact on Job Quality and Creation,” he noted that these changes have increased transparency and boosted the country’s international competitiveness.

De Camps discussed the ongoing labor reform initiatives under President Luis Abinader’s administration, which focus on eliminating judicial procedural barriers, facilitating job creation, and strengthening regulatory capacities while maintaining a balance in labor relations and protecting workers’ rights. He stressed the importance of creating quality jobs for qualified workers as essential for upholding democratic values.

The discussion also featured prominent figures such as Everett Eissentstat, Partner at Squire Patton Boggs; William Malamud, Executive Vice President of AMCHAMDR; León Patiño, Vice President of Legal and International Affairs at PALMCORP; and Alvaro Santos, Faculty Director of the Center for the Advancement of the Rule of Law in the Americas at Georgetown Law.

The event was part of the annual Dominican Week in the United States, organized by AMCHAMDR, where Minister De Camps highlighted the country’s labor peace and the rule of law as foundational pillars of governance.
