Haiti’s Justice Ministry warns of threats against Prime Minister
Haiti.- Haiti’s Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP) issued a warning regarding threats against Prime Minister Garry Conille and other cabinet officials. The Ministry stated that certain groups are attempting to create further unrest in the country and has called on police and judicial authorities to take action to ensure the safety of officials and citizens.
The violence in Haiti is largely attributed to the gang coalition “Viv Ansanm,” responsible for attacks on government infrastructure since February, which led to the resignation of former Prime Minister Ariel Henry. Despite the presence of the Multinational Security Support Mission (MMAS), the group, led by Jimmy Chérizier, continues to wreak havoc in Port-au-Prince.
