At least several people died Friday when a tour bus carrying more than 50 passengers overturned on the New York State Thruway near Pembroke, about 48 km northeast of Buffalo and 64 km southeast of Niagara Falls, authorities reported. The bus, returning from Niagara Falls and heading toward New York City, lost control for unknown reasons, veered into the median, overcorrected, and ended up in a roadside ditch. State Police confirmed multiple fatalities, including at least one child, as well as several injuries. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
Passengers included citizens from India, China, and the Philippines, prompting authorities to coordinate with the bus company to confirm identities and origins. Rescue efforts were initially hampered by people trapped inside the bus, and the eastbound Thruway remained partially closed during operations.
New York State Police are investigating the cause of the accident. Governor Kathy Hochul confirmed that her team is coordinating with local and state emergency officials to support victims and their families. Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz urged residents to avoid the highway, describing the situation as a “serious bus accident with multiple victims.” State authorities also worked with the bus operator and consulates to assist international passengers while final casualty figures were still being determined.

What does this news have to do with the Dominicantoday news now?
I thought the same…maybe they are trying to point out that guaguas wreck all over the world and DR is no different. Maybe we will start seeing helmetless motorcycle accidents in India in Dominican Today
What does this have to do… nothing!
If there were Dominicano victims, it would be DT newsworthy.
It is a tragedy, nonetheless.
I live in upstate ny and was wondering the same thing 🤔🤔
they posted this story because bus accidents happen almost daily in DR and they want to show it happens outside the country
Yes, accidents do happen outside the RD. However, accidents resulting in death in the RD brings it into the top ten world locations for traffic deaths per 100,00 per capita.
thats my point it stems from a kind of whataboutism
