So much evidence: Odebrecht US$94M graft case ‘must’ go to trial

Santo Domingo.- Attorney general Jean Alain Rodríguez, on Tuesday said the fact that “they conducted a serious investigation and thousands of evidence were presented” the judge hearing the Odebrecht US$94 million graft case must rule to open a trial.

“More than 1,700 pieces of evidence, informers, the same company that said it gave bribes, we gave it to these people, a serious investigation was done as never before in the Dominican Republic, so there has to be a trial, how can there not be a trial? There has to be a trial,” he said.

Rodriguez said he and the entire country expect Supreme Court Instruction judge Francisco Ortega to order a criminal against the seven accused of taking US$94 million in bribes.

Ortega will announce his ruling on June 21.
