Bouncing 8 pound boy is the country’s first 2012 baby

Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic’s first new year baby, born at 12:01am is Jotin Junior Jimenez de los Santos, who weighed in at 8 pounds, 2 ounces, son of 28 year old Johanna de the Santos.

Jotin Junior was born in the Maternity La Altagracia, in the capital, and within the next few hours is expected to be taken home, to Villa Duarte, Santo Domingo East.

Johanna’s third son was born via Caesarean section, said La Altagracia director Juan Cid Troncoso, who added that they are both in excellent health.
