Soto Jiménez believes Abinader and his measures caused the unification of Haiti against the Dominican Republic
Santo Domingo.- Former Secretary of the Armed Forces, José Miguel Soto Jiménez, expressed concerns regarding President Luis Abinader’s measures on the border and their impact on the relationship between the Dominican Republic and Haiti. He stated that these measures, particularly the decision to stop the canal that sought to divert the waters of the Masacre River, had the unintended consequence of unifying the Haitian people against the Dominican Republic.
Soto Jiménez noted that President Abinader’s actions had unified Haiti against its neighbor, and even the Haitian Prime Minister, Ariel Henry, had engaged in what he described as hate speech against the Dominican Republic.
He also criticized the Dominican authorities for highlighting the approval of a United Nations Security Council military force led by Kenya to address the Haitian crisis as an achievement of local diplomacy, when the Dominican Republic was not mentioned during the approval debates.
Regarding the potential vote for members of the Armed Forces, Soto Jiménez stated that the country might be moving in that direction, but it may not be appropriate at the present moment.
That is good, if haiti needs that in order to get united and acheive a collective goal, that is welcomed, but we all know they only get united to self destruct.
exactly.
When I said Abinader is the best Haitian president… Honestly nobody knew about the canal until he decided to flex his muscle…
I laugh when I see haitian talking bout a canal in a muddy river, when a re you building at least 100 hospitals for your people? When are you building at least 15,000 public school? You cant even barely finish the mediocre canal you are doing
I must thank the Palestinian ruler of the dominicans. Arab Abinader has been a gift to Haiti. I have never seen Haitians so united over anything. I have always said, we Haitians need an enemy (real or imagined) to start uniting us and creating a sense of nationalism. Dominicans are right next door and would serve as the perfect scapegoat. Hope relations between the two countries decline further and that we don’t waste this great opportunity. A totally sealed border and no diplomatic relations is the goal.
I totally agree. And is not the Dominican president. It’s the Dominican people who wants the hatian people to get their country organized and stop relying on the Dominican Republic.
